The Price of Freedom

O, God,

I stand atop a grassy knoll
And see so clearly Freedom's toll

‘Neath cross and star in row on row
They rest as we in Freedom go.

O, God,

Help me never to forget
The price they paid with faces set

Toward victory, and lives of peace
For us who rest in Freedom's ease.

The cost of Freedom I now see
I'll not forget it was for me

They paid with all that they could give.
They rest 'neath cross and star. I live.

O, God.

Written in Red

♥ I love you ♥ that’s what Calvary says ~

In letters of crimson God wrote His love
On a hillside so long, long ago
For you and for me Jesus died
And love’s greatest story was told

I love you, I love you
That’s what Calvary said
I love you, I love you
I love you written in red

Down through the ages God wrote His love
With the same hands that suffered and bled
Giving all that He had to give
A message so easily read

I love you, I love you
That’s what Calvary said
I love you…

Oh precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow
No other fount I know
Nothing but the blood of Jesus

I love you, I love you
That’s what Calvary said
I love you, I love you
I love you written in red

The Rose

It is only a tiny rosebud,
A flower of God's design;
But I cannot unfold the petals
With these clumsy hands of mine.

The secret of unfolding flowers
Is not known to such as I.
GOD opens this flower so sweetly,
Then in my hands they die.

If I cannot unfold a rosebud,
This flower of God's design,
Then how can I have the wisdom
To unfold this life of mine?

So I'll trust in Him for leading
Each moment of my day.
I will look to Him for His guidance
Each step of the pilgrim way.

The pathway that lies before me,
Only my Heavenly Father knows.
I'll trust Him to unfold the moments,
Just as He unfolds the rose.

The Lord is My Strength

Let the weak say, I am strong. Joel 3:10 ~

The Bible says in Acts 19:20 (KJV) ”So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.” Let the word of God grow inside of you; water it every day in prayer. Spend time with God with his word. Let the word of God become in you an overcoming force. Let it prevail and win over everything.

Two Horses

Just up the road from my home is a field, with two horses in it. From a distance, each horse looks like any other horse.

But if you get a closer look you will notice something quite interesting...

One of the horses is blind.

His owner has chosen not to have him put down, but has made him a safe and comfortable barn to live in.

This alone is pretty amazing.

But if you stand nearby and listen, you will hear the sound of a bell. It is coming from a smaller horse in the field.

Attached to the horse's halter is a small, copper-colored bell. It lets the blind friend know where the other horse is, so he can follow.

As you stand and watch these two friends you'll see that the horse with the bell is always checking on the blind horse, and that the blind horse will listen for the bell and then slowly walk to where the other horse is, trusting he will not be led astray.

When the horse with the bell returns to the shelter of the barn each evening, he will stop occasionally to look back, making sure that the blind friend isn't too far behind to hear the bell.

Like the owners of these two horses, God does not throw us away just because we are not perfect. Or because we have problems or challenges.

He watches over us and even brings others into our lives to help us when we are in need.

Sometimes we are the blind horse, being guided by the little ringing bell of those who God places in our lives.

And at other times we are the guide horse, helping others to find their way.

The Solid Rock

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus' Name.

On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

When darkness seems to hide His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.

On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay.

On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh may I then in Him be found.
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.

On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

[written by Edward Mote & William B. Bradbury]

1 Corinthians 10:4 … And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. ♥

Ten Little Christians

Ten little Christians standing in a line,
One disliked the pastor, then there were nine.

Nine little Christians stayed up very late,
One slept in on Sunday, then there were eight.

Eight little Christians on their way to heaven,
One took the low road, then there were seven.

Seven little Christians chirping like chicks,
One disliked the music, then there were six.

Six little Christians seemed very much alive,
But one lost his interest, then there were five.

Five little Christians pulling for Heaven’s shore,
But one stopped to rest, then there were four.

Four little Christians, each busy as a bee,
One got her feelings hurt, then there were three.

Three little Christians knew what to do,
One joined the sports crowd, then there were two.

Two little Christians, our rhyme is nearly done,
Differed with each other, then there was one.

One little Christian can’t do much ’tis true;
Brought his friend to Bible study, then there were two.

Two earnest Christians, each won one more,
That doubled their number, then there were four.

Four sincere Christians worked early and late,
Each won another, then there were eight.

Eight little Christians, if they doubled as before,
In just a few short weeks, we’d have 1,024.

In this little jingle, there’s a lesson true,
You belong to the building, or the wrecking crew.

The Hand of God

Oh, the hands of Jesus. Hands of incarnation at his birth. Hands of liberation as he healed. Hands of inspiration as he taught. Hands of dedication as he served. And hands of salvation as he died . . .
The same hand that cleansed the Temple cleanses your heart.
The hand is the hand of God.

Refiner's Fire

And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver… Malachi 3:3 ~

A woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn’t mention anything about the reason for her interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining Silver.

As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities.

The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot; then she thought again about the verse that says: ‘He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver.’

She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time the silver was being refined.

The man answered that Yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the fire. If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed.

The woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silversmith, ‘How do you know when the silver is fully refined?’

He smiled at her and answered, ‘Oh, that’s easy — when I see my image in it.’

If today you are feeling the heat of the fire , remember that God has his eye on you and will keep watching you until He sees His image in you.

Isaiah 64:8 … But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.

1 Peter 1:7 … That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 3:18 … But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. ♥

I AM

I was regretting the past and fearing the future.
Suddenly, I heard God speaking....

"My name is 'I AM.'"

He paused. I waited.

He continued, "When you live in the past with its mistakes and regrets, it is hard for you because I am not there. My name is not 'I WAS.'

"When you live in the future with its unknowns and fears, it is hard for you because I am not there. My name is not 'I WILL BE.'

"But when you live in this moment, it is not hard, because I am here. My name is 'I AM'."

Sow and Reap

A person can never truly appreciate the bloom of a rose without the work of another hand. There is always someone who has planted a seed, watered the seed, weeded the garden, taken care of the soil, and harvested the plant.

We all need to make sure that in the act of our sowing, we are sowing for the Lord. He is the One who sees our heart and knows our intentions.

May we sow out of the overflow of goodness that God has done in our own lives. May we plant seeds of joy, peace, and love. May we not look for the harvest, but know that God has plans that far exceed what we can comprehend.

[Author Unknown]

Luke 6:38 … Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom.

John 4:36-37 … And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.

2 Corinthians 9:6 … But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.

Galatians 6:8 … For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

James 3:18 … And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace. ♥

God's Recipe

A cup of joy
and a dash of love
will keep God's happiness
flowing from above.

A pound of hope
with kindness packed beneath
will keep your heart
tender and sweet.

A barrel of patience
and a spoon of peace
will calm your soul
and your wrath will cease.

A yard of gentleness
and a foot of grace
will keep you traveling
at a steady pace.

When those ingredients
are mixed together
we can sail through
life's stormy weather.

Temptation

We must not count temptation a strange thing. "The disciple is not greater than his master, nor the servant than his lord." If Satan came to Christ, he will also come to Christians.

2 Timothy 2:22 … Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

1 Corinthians 10:13 … There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

James 1:12 … Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. ♥

Holy City New Jerusalem…Thank you Jesus,
Coming down from God out of heaven.
Holy City longing for you,

When we enter the gates of that city… New Jerusalem,
All the saints of God will shout victory.
It will be the beginning of a reunion,

For God and the Lamb will be the temple.
There'll be no day or night, no sun or moon shining bright,
For God and the Lamb will be the light.

Coming down from God out of heaven.

Asked From God

I asked God to take away my pain
God said, No.
It is not for Me to take away, but for you to give it up.

I asked God to make my handicapped child whole.
God said, No.
His spirit is whole, his body is only temporary.

I asked God to grant me patience.
God said, No.
Patience is a by-product of tribulations; it isn't granted, it is learned.

I asked God to give me happiness.
God said, No.
I give you blessings. Happiness is up to you.

I asked God to spare me pain.
God said, No.
Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares and brings you closer to Me.

I asked God to make my spirit grow.
God said, No.
You must grow on your own, but I will prune you to make you fruitful.

I asked God for all things that I might enjoy life.
God said, No.
I will give you life, so that you may enjoy all things.

I ask God to help me LOVE others, as much as He loves me.
God said... Ahhhh, finally you have the idea.

Waiting

Biblically, waiting is not just something we have to do until we get what we want. Waiting is part of the process of becoming what God wants us to be.

[John Ortberg]

Psalm 27:14... Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

Isaiah 25:9... And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

Galatians 5:5... For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.

Romans 8:25... But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

John 5:25... Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.

Psalm 37:7... Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way,

Psalm 40:1... I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

Psalm 25:5… Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.

Psalm 62:1... Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation.

Psalm 62:5... My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. ♥

Jesus the Alpha and the Omega

I know He is the beginning, so why do I worry about the end?

I know He is the creator, so why do I wonder who will destroy?

I know He has forgiven me, so why can’t I forgive myself?

I know He is a healer, so why do I speak of sickness?

I know He can do all things, so why do I say I can’t?

I know He will protect me, so why do I fear?

I know He will supply all my needs, so why can’t I wait?

I know He is my strength and my salvation, so why do I feel weak?

I know that everything and everyone has a season, so why when someone’s season is over, do I weep instead of rejoicing?

I know He is the right way, so why do I go the wrong way?

I know He is the light, so why do I choose to walk in darkness?

I know that whatever I ask of GOD, GOD will give me, so why am I scared to ask?

I know tomorrow is not promised, so why do I put off for tomorrow what I can do today?

I know that the truth shall make me free, so why do I continue to lie?

I know He gives us revelation, knowledge and understanding, so why do I lean on my own understanding?

I know I should live in the spirit as well as walk in the spirit, so why do I choose to live in the spirit, but walk in the flesh?

I know that when praises go up, blessings come down, so why do I refuse to praise Him?

I know I am saved, so why do I refuse the word He has given me?

I know He has a plan for me, so why am I rushing it because I am eager to do His will, when it is His time not my time?

The shortest distance between a problem and a solution is the distance between your knees and the floor.

The one who kneels to the Lord can stand up to anything!

Happy Mother's Day

A baby asked God, "They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?"

"Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you."

The child further inquired, "But tell me, here in heaven I don't have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy."

God said, "Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you. And you will feel your angel's love and be very happy."

Again the child asked, "And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don't know the language?"

God said, "Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak."

"And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?"

God said, "Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray."

"Who will protect me?"

God said, "Your angel will defend you even if it means risking it's life."

"But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore."

God said, "Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach you the way to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you."

At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, "God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel's name."

"You will simply call her, 'Mom.'"

In His Presence

Love unites us with God. “God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.” (1 John 4:16). When we dwell in love we dwell in God and God in us. Great joy and spiritual strength are found when you live in the presence of the Lord! ℛℒ

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance. Psalm 89:15

Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence. Psalm 140:13

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 1:8

Glory and honour are in his presence; strength and gladness are in his place. 1 Chronicles 16:27

Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. Romans 15:3

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. John 15:4

Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. James 4:8 ♥

Forever

Praise God for WHO He is and for WHAT He has done!

From Psalm 118:

His mercy endures forever:
O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever. v.1

He set us free:
I called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me, and set me in a large place. v.5

He is with us:
The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me? v.6

He is our helper:
Thou hast thrust sore at me that I might fall: but the LORD helped me. v.13

He is our refuge:
It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. v.8

He is our strength and our song:
The LORD is my strength and song, and is become my salvation. v.14

His right hand has done mighty things:
The right hand of the LORD is exalted: the right hand of the LORD doeth valiantly. v.16

He has become our salvation:
I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation. v.21

He is the head cornerstone:
The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner. v.22

He has made his light shine upon us:
God is the LORD, which hath shewed us light: bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar. v.27

~ Have you thanked the Lord Jesus today?

Therefore I will give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and I will sing praises unto thy name, 2 Samuel 22:50

O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Psalm 107:1

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 ♥
